3.  Create some Maori signs for objects around the school.
4.  Create some Maori artwork
5.  do some research  about Maori Culture / History

Pick a Path Stories

I was looking to do something different for writing and came across this on another class blog!  It's nice when we can share ideas.  Our learning was to add detail into our characters and settings on each page.  Here are some detail/ description and story lines that I like.  Which one did you like?  If you want to see more, then check out each student's posts on their page and see if you can find more that you like.

MY TOP 5 ROCKET INFORMATION REPORTS

This is now our 3rd information report.  We are learning all the time how to improve them and put them into our own words.  Our next learning goal is how to write that conclusion but these are our just a few of our information reports we wrote over the last two weeks.   Really proud of our learning.  Which one is your favourite report and why?

RA HAKA DAY! (Friday 19th May)

This was an amazing day lead by Whaea Maha and Matua Te Tahi.    If you have ever wondered what it was like to do a Haka with 400 people this post will show you how amazing it is.  The hairs on your arm prickle as the strength and mana of the tane voices bellow and the dulcet voices of the wahine give another layer to the power of this Haka.  It was a very tiring day but what a privilege to be a part of.  I hope we have another one to practise what we have learnt.  Do you have a school Haka?

My Top 5 pick for Stories

In Class, we have been writing recounts.  Our focus has been on adding detail, upgrade their words to sound sophisticated, and different ways to start a story.  Each of these stories do something from our focus well.  What do you like about them?

The Power of Yet - Growth Mindset

In a growth mindset, people believe that they can develop and grow.  The Power of Yet, establishes that we may have found something hard, this means we just haven't mastered it - yet!  Here is what the kids watched and here are my top 5 responses.

Part of the task was to pull out the key messages of each video and put it into their own words or key sentences that stood out to them.  It ended with a final reflection of what they got out of these videos.  Here are 5 from our class.
